ORLAND MEMORIAL POST 111

AMERICAN LEGION

Commander's Call

Hello Legionnaires,

Let’s hope winter is over. Ha Ha, Are you ready for corned beef and cabbage? Happy St. Paddy’s day.

March is Community Service Month. Give priority to Boy’s state selection this month.

Close out the membership campaign, and mail per capita fees and cards to the department.

Recognize the anniversary of the American Legion’s founding March 15-17.

This is an occasion for post officers to focus on projecting your vision and image of The American Legion in the community, in the programs sponsored and services provided, and, also on the appearance of the post home and surrounding grounds.

The post should be a stakeholder in the community, conscious it represents the National organization to local citizens.

Renewed attention to appearance doesn’t require a capital improvement project, merely attention to detail and routine maintenance, from signage to inside and outside improvements. This should be included on your annual post responsibility Audit. Between January and March, consider forming a committee to host an open house.

Feb. 22nd was our regular meeting for the month. Feb. 23rd our post hosted the 8th District meeting. Members should attend these meetings to see first-hand what the legion is doing.

Our next 1st Division meeting will be on April 5th at the Tattler post #973 @ 7:00 pm

We have a lot of new members in our post. Come out to a meeting and meet and greet them. Say Hi to old friends and meet new ones. Coffee on Mondays and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30. See you there. Be Safe.

Until next month, take care and we will see you soon.

Thomas Chambers, Post Commander
